Cocos Palm Pruning
Cocos Palms originate from Brazil, they are a quick growing robust palm which can be aesthetically pleasing if pruned and maintained regularly. Often owners can prune dead leaves, flowers, berries and bracts for many years without involving a tree contractor. As these palms continue to grow taller and larger they become increasingly difficult to manage and nuisance issues from berry and flower drop are problematic for home owners.
We practice minimal impact pruning of all palms, avoiding gaffing palm trunks whenever possible.
A climber accesses the head of the palm and proceeds to remove all the dead material from the palm tree as well as yellow and low hanging dying leaves and all flowers, berries and unopened bracts.
Generally leaves positioned at the horizontal and above are kept to maintain the health of the palm.
